The Spec

The van in this project is based on a VW T4 Long Wheel-Base but can
be applied to any van. I chose this vehicle because the 2.5 Tdi engine is known to be one of the most reliable and is also extremely ecomomical.
It also shifts when you need it to and has very light steering.

So let's show you the spec...

• ply lined, insulated and carpetted
• double or single bed
• top bunk bed
• kitchen (Smev triple burner and grill) with extendable work surface area
• foldout Colman oven
• washroom (toilet, drop-down sink, shower, soap dispenser, toiletries rack, tooth mug, towel hooks and shelf)
• 4 person picnic style seating area with denim covers
• extendable dinner table
• storage areas and cupboards of various shapes and sizes
• wardrobe
• swivel passenger seat
• pull-up foot rests or handy mini-tables
• heating/fan
• water boiler
• indoor surfboard/kayak/kiteboard rack
• internal/external thermometers
• on-board fresh water and waste water tanks with meter levels
• 12v power & 240v hook up and double socket
• digital control panel system operating lights, heating and water pump
• 3 x flush LED spot lights & 2 strip lights
• silver screens & lined curtains for all windows
• awning with woodburner and chimney
• moveable cup holders/plate rack/storage rack/magnetic storage tins
• split charge system & leisure battery, charger and battery level meters
• surround sound for radio, ipod, CD's and even TV and DVD's
• solar power for leisure battery
• 2x roof vents, 1 with built in fan and thermostat
As you can see it contains a feast of gadgets.
If you are interested in building your own Complete Camper be warned it is not for the work-shy, and should not be underestimated. BUT, believe me, the results FAR out weigh the effort required. Just imagine coming in from a long day of surfing, or whatever sport you are mad for, cold and wet through and jumping into a steaming hot shower within minutes... then even settling down in front of a log fire with endless pots of hot tea! And all this for the fraction of the cost that you would normally pay for a shop built van of this spec.

We've done all the hard work for you...no excuses now...go to TOOLKIT and get going, go on!
